The Soviet Union experimented with replacing the traditional seven-day week. And Daylight Saving Time gave us the brilliant idea of simply moving the clock and hoping everyone remembers what time it is. \nSome ideas lasted. \nOthers… not so much. \n🌎 When Countries Changed Time\nSometimes changing time is about economics. \nIn 2011\, Samoa skipped an entire date\, moving across the International Date Line to better align its working week with important trading partners. \nSometimes it’s about politics. \nNorth Korea created its own time zone in 2015\, partly as a symbolic rejection of its colonial past—only to abandon it three years later. \nAnd sometimes changing the way we organize time creates problems nobody anticipated. \nThe Soviet Union’s experiments with five- and six-day work cycles may have helped factories stay productive\, but they also made it harder for families and friends to share a common day off. \n🤔 So Who Gets to Decide What Time It Is?\nWe can’t change the Earth’s rotation. \nBut we can change the rules we build around it. \nTime zones. Clocks. Calendars. Workweeks. Date lines. \nThey’re not all dictated by nature.
