When You ASSUME – You make an ASS out of U & ME…

Don’t Be an Ass: 5 Reasons to stop being an ASS and start becoming a BADASS!

Learn Spanish!

Many people think they don’t need to learn a foreign language. REALITY CHECK:  In California alone, by 2042, Hispanic people will be the state’s majority demographic!  With that news, I invite you to skip reading the rest of the article and sign up right here for Online—or in person :)—Spanish Lessons at Kasa De Franko.  If you’re on the fence, it’s ok, read on.

In California today, there are 13.1 million Hispanic people, which make up one-third of the state’s population.  That’s a lot of potential customers, baby mommas, friends, partners, baby daddy’s, entertainers, and lawyers.  From the 2010 U.S. census, people of a Hispanic or Latino origin were at 23.5 percent of California’s total population—that without taking into account the undocumented immigrants who don’t participate in census due to fear :(.

You need a Spanish tutor in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley to show you the ropes, so you can mingle like a pringle.  Or sell that hot idea you have to thousands of new customers.  If you learn to speak Spanish, then you can have many amigas, amigos y “amigovias” & ‘amigovios” (friends with benefits—chaka chaka).

Now, some of these Latino people probably already speak excellent English, even better than some native speakers, but probably not most.  And deep inside them is a native Spanish-speaking person that craves to be themselves and let loose and get out of the closet.  When’s the last time you saw someone let loose anyway?  Perhaps you cleared it along with your browsing history last night, I don’t know—but it’s a treat!  With all the new people you’ll be able to get to know, you’re bound to meet some awesome new friends.  And most likely their cultural roots aren’t USA specific, so you’ll get a lot of intriguing new food, strange rituals, and fun fiestas to attend!  Think Cinco de Mayo and Dia de los Muertos! The original version, “wey”!

No seas burro “wey”

Did you know that learning another language makes you smarter?  Studies prove it.  If you’re unsure look at these Five Reasons below about Why YOU Should Learn to speak Español.

  1. Being Bilingual Makes You Smarter

Having multiple languages in one’s head gives the mind a cognitive strength workout, like squats for your brain.  Studies suggest that being bilingual improves the part of the brain that we use for solving problems, planning, and other mentally demanding tasks—like snorkeling without pants.  Another example of this improved brain skill involves ignoring distractions when trying to keep focused on something and switching attention from one thing to another while holding specific information in mind—like remembering directions while driving.   If that’s not great enough for you, consider the research done at the University of California.  Researchers found that individuals who were bilingual were more resistant to dementia and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease than to those who weren’t bilingual.  Now you can remember where your cane is when you need to club your caregiver for interrupting your precious bowel movements ONCE AGAIN.

  1. Un asno abre-puertas

    It Opens Doors

Author Frank Smith wrote that “One language sets you in a corridor for life.  Two languages open every door along the way.”  Poetic, huh?  Turns out it’s true.   Once you begin learning a second language, you find there are doors that you couldn’t see before.  These ‘doors’ may be opportunities for adventure, work, love, growth, or self-discovery.  And who knows?  There might be a door to a smoky room filled with guys and gals in leather crotchless pants with whips in their hands.  Better bring some Ibuprofen just in case!

  1.  Mucho trabajo

    Work Opportunities

By learning to speak Spanish online—or in person J—, you can find many willing employers seeking your bilingual skills.  Whether it’s here in the United States or in a country of Spanish speaking origin, there are plenty of jobs available where Spanish skills are needed.  Companies often hire translators, teachers, and people who can speak multiple languages to communicate between management and production areas.  At work, you can also know what the Spanish speakers are REALLY saying about you. Next time you hear them say, “chinga tu madre,” you can politely flip them the bird, slash their pay by .50 cents an hour, and give them an Unsatisfactory on their next performance evaluation.
