Memorial Day holiday marks the unofficial start of summer when the livin’ is easy, the sun starts blazing, and there’s nothing better than a weekend of soakin’ some up in a country that boasts the most powerful military in the world. Only drinking beer & B.B.Q—ing?

Memorial Day is one of ten Federal U.S. holidays when everyone travels all at once, buys tons of crap, fires up their grills, and blows sh%t up—in excess. Memorial Day is the perfect excuse to get hammered, pay respects, and enjoy life with loved ones.

The most crucial component of Memorial Day is drinking beer and barbequing, I mean honoring the veterans who’ve died in battle. Besides those three things, there’s more!

A Day to Not Go to Work!

The perfect holiday to break out whatever American flag memorabilia you got, dress as Uncle Sam, prep your voice to chant “U.S.A., U.S.A.” until you’re red, white, and blue in the face and buy as much meat as you can before supplies run out.

A day to not go to work and lie around in your dungarees getting steamin’ arseholed wasted or brush up on your Español.

What’s Not to Love about Memorial Day?

Home Depot’s dropping prices lower than Kim Kardashian’s neckline for appliances, grills, and tools and 43 million people in the U.S. will be leaving their homes over the weekend to get jiggy with it thanks to lower gas prices and a ton of American spirit. In honor of those who’ve protected our buttocks and the right to be free.

Brush Up on Your History

The first Memorial Day was called Decoration Day and took place on May 30, 1868, at the famous Arlington National Cemetery as a crowd 5,000 strong came to honor the fallen soldiers of the Confederate and Union armies of the Civil War.

After that, states began to adopt the holiday after New York declared it official by 1890. But not all states, like those in the South, refused to acknowledge it, but they had their own days. And both claim to have had the first celebration so don’t get into that argument unless you want to get filleted like a Christmas ham.

Still, some southern states like Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, Lousiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee still honor the Confederate dead on different dates throughout the year, but the holiday now is meant to remember all Americans who died fighting in any war.

American People

In the present day, there are festive parades held in many towns featuring veteran groups, the National Guard, cute poodles and random K9’s dressed in American regalia as cute kids have the time of their lives riding on wagons and throwing candy at people’s head who have terrible reflexes.
